Jan 4 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq as of 2030 GMT on Thursday: * denotes a new or updated item. * BAGHDAD - One U.S. soldier was killed by small arms fire in western Baghdad on Thursday, the U.S. military said. BAGHDAD - Mortars hit the Amil district of Baghdad, killing five people and wounding four more, an interior ministry source said. BAGHDAD - Police found the bodies of 47 people, many tortured and shot to death, in various parts of Baghdad over the past 24 hours, an interior ministry source said. BAGHDAD - Three mortars hit the majority Shi'ite neighbourhood of Hurriya in Baghdad, wounding three people, police said. MOSUL - A police colonel was killed in a drive-by shooting in Mosul, police said. KERBALA - Gunmen killed Akrem al-Zubaidi, a member of the Kerbala city council, and three of his guards on the main road between Najaf and Kerbala, 110 km (68 miles) south of Baghdad, police said. BAGHDAD - Two car bombs near a petrol station killed 13 people and wounded 22 in Baghdad's western upscale Mansour district, an Interior Ministry source said. Police said it was a roadside bomb followed by a car bomb. BAGHDAD - Clashes erupted between gunmen and residents of a mainly Sunni district after the gunmen attacked Baghdad's western Gazaliya district and killed two people and wounded 25 on Wednesday, an Interior Ministry source said. HILLA - The bodies of four people were found shot dead in and around the city of Hilla, 100 km (60 miles) south of Baghdad, police said. ISKANDARIYA - A roadside bomb targeting a police check point killed an Iraqi soldier and wounded four in the town of Iskandariya, 40 km (25 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
