GAZA, March 4 (Reuters) - Israel's air force killed a Palestinian gunman and wounded another in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, hospital officials said, and military officials described the men as a rocket crew.

The air strike near the Erez border came during a relative lull in fighting after Israeli forces wrapped up a five-day offensive against Hamas militants in north Gaza which killed more than 100 Palestinians, many of them civilians.

Palestinian hospital officials said the two casualties from Tuesday's missile attack were militants but had no immediate word on their affiliation.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said the air force struck a rocket crew after it fired across the frontier. Two Palestinian rockets hit the Israeli border town of Sderot, damaging a house but causing no casualties, Israel's Army Radio reported.

Hamas, which declared "victory" after Israel pulled back on Monday, said its armed wing was temporarily holding fire. Israel said its assault had stemmed the salvoes, but Hamas said its rocket crews would not be deterred from fighting in the future.
