BRUSSELS, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Belgian police have arrested an Iranian who said he was involved in a plot to bomb a passenger plane in Belgium, a spokeswoman for the federal prosecutors office said on Thursday.

"I can confirm that an Iranian citizen was arrested last week after stating that he was approached to commit a bombing on a plane," spokeswoman Lieve Pellens said.

Pellens said she was unable to confirm local media reports that the plot involved liquid explosives and targeted flights from Charleroi airport in the south of the country.

Iran's Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi visits the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi November 26, 2006. Ebadi urged India on Sunday to revoke a controversial law giving sweeping powers to security forces and which human rights activists say is a license to kill indiscriminately.
