Asked whether Iranian media reports that Iranian and U.S. officials would meet in Baghdad on Thursday were correct, he said: "No". Speaking on the sidelines of a conference in the Iraqi town of Tikrit, he said there was "nothing in place". Speaking at a news conference later, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Barham Salih said the Iraq-hosted talks "will be taking place this week" but would not give a date.
