JERUSALEM, Feb 6 (Reuters) - British Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett said on Tuesday London was working with the United States to get as much information about a "friendly fire" incident in which U.S. warplanes killed a British soldier in Iraq.

"Obviously, both we and the U.S. are keen to understand what has happened here," she said during a visit to Jerusalem, after a British newspaper published transcripts of what it said was a cockpit video recording from a U.S. warplane involved in the 2003 attack.

"The matter is important and needs to be resolved but we are confident it will be kept in proportion," she said, calling for an inquest into Lance Corporal Matty Hull's death to have access to "as much evidence as possible".
