MOGADISHU, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Somali police killed a man in an exchange of fire with a crowd protesting the presence of Ethiopian troops in the capital Mogadishu, a government source said on Saturday.

"Protestors shot at policemen, the police returned fire killing one man," a government source said, adding that the incident happened in Mogadishu's main Tarbuunka square.

"I don't know how many people have been wounded."

Somalis hurled stones and burnt tyres in the capital on Saturday protesting against the presence of Ethiopian troops and a government disarmament drive.

Heavily armed Ethiopian forces helped the Somali government drive out Islamists from Mogadishu a week ago, breaking free from its provincial outpost Baidoa to end six months of Islamist rule across much of southern Somalia.
