Three killed in building collapse in Cairo
06 May 2007 16:15:44 GMT

CAIRO, May 6 (Reuters) - Three people were killed on Sunday when a 4-storey apartment building collapsed in a poor neighbourhood of Cairo, security sources said.

They said two bodies had been pulled from the rubble, and authorities were working to recover the body of a third person from beneath the wreckage in the working class Sayyeda Zeinab neighbourhood. Building collapses are a frequent hazard in poor parts of Egypt because of lax building standards and poor maintenance.

Military vehicles destroyed by Israel's Air Force are seen near the Mitla Pass in the Sinai peninsula after the Middle East War, July 13, 1967, in this handout picture released June 3, 2007 by the Israeli Government Press Office (GPO). Tuesday marks forty years since Israel swept to victory in six days in a war with Egypt, Syria and Jordan, capturing the Sinai peninsula, the Golan Heights, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Arab East Jerusalem.
