May 7 (Reuters) - A Kenya Airways plane that crashed after takeoff in Cameroon with 114 people on board is largely submerged in swamp and there is no chance of survivors, Cameroon's civil protection service said on Monday.

Following is a chronology of major air crashes in the past year:

* May 3, 2006 - An Airbus A-320 of the Armenian airline Armavia, carrying 113 passengers and crew from Yerevan to the Russian seaside resort Sochi, crashes in the Black Sea while trying to land in bad weather, killing all on board.

* July 9 - A Russian Airbus A-310 run by Sibir airlines carrying 195 passengers and eight crew, crashes during a domestic flight to Siberia, killing 122.

* Aug. 22 - A Russian Tu-154 operated by Pulkovo Airlines, with at least 154 passengers and crew, crashes 30 miles (48 km) north of the east Ukrainian town of Donetsk on a flight from Anapa on the Black Sea to St. Petersburg. All aboard are killed.

* Sept. 29 - One hundred and fifty-four people are killed when a Boeing 737-800 operated by the low-cost Gol airline crashes in the Amazon rain forest in Brazil's worst plane disaster.

* Oct. 29 - Ninety-six of the 106 people on board a Boeing 737 operated by ADC Airlines die when the plane crashes just after take-off from the Nigerian capital Abuja.

* Jan. 1, 2007 - A Boeing 737 operated by Indonesian budget carrier Adam Air crashes at sea off Sulawesi island, killing all 102 on board.

* May 5 - All 114 people on board a Kenya Airways Boeing 737 were believed killed when the plane crashed in torrential rain after takeoff from Douala in Cameroon en route to Nairobi.

Police officers detain a protester during a demonstration by environmentalists rejecting Russia's Olympic bid in Moscow July 3, 2007. The Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi is bidding to host the 2014 Winter Olympics running against Austria's Salzburg and South Korea's Pyeongchang. The organisers of the protest said they rejected Russia's bid due to concerns the environment in the mountain range around Sochi could be damaged during the building of the Olympic park.
