GAZA, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Tuesday he hoped a unity government with the ruling Hamas movement that could lead to an easing of Western sanctions could be formed within days.

"We are working very hard in order to form this government. I hope that we will reach a conclusion maybe within days, maybe in less than that," Abbas told reporters in Gaza.

A Palestinian boy holds pictures of Gaza shelling victims, in Balata refugee camp near Nablus, during a Hamas rally against an Israeli army shelling in the northern Gaza Strip November 10, 2006. But an Israeli diplomat insisted Wednesday's deadly shelling in Beit Hanoun had been accidental.
