MECCA, Saudi Arabia, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Rival Palestinian factions agreed to end fighting in an agreement signed in the Islamic holy city of Mecca on Thursday. Following are the main points of the agreement: * President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah and the Hamas Islamist group that won a parliamentary election last year agreed to form a national unity government. * Abbas asked Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh to head the new government. * Abbas said the new government should "respect the resolutions of international law and the agreements signed by the Palestine Liberation Organisation". * Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh will have a deputy from Fatah, officials said. * The three key posts of finance, foreign affairs and interior will be occupied by independents, officials said.
