BEIRUT, May 9 (Reuters) - Gunmen loyal to the U.S.-backed Beirut governing coalition laid down their arms in the last district under their control on Friday and the army moved into the area, a security source said.

The gunmen in the Sunni district of Tareek al-Jadeedi, whose residents are loyal to governing coalition leader Saad al-Hariri, had been in talks with Shi'ite Hezbollah to surrender. Hezbollah has routed pro-government gunmen over the last 24 hours.
