ISTANBUL, Oct 9 (Reuters) - These are the leading stories in the Turkish press on Tuesday. Reuters has not verified these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.

MILLIYET

- Turkey under fire: 15 martyrs killed by Kurdish PKK guerrillas in 24 hours. The government must review its priorities, the paper says.

- A cross-border operation into Iraq is on the agenda but the United States is still opposed.

- Team from Turkish parliament goes to United States to lobby against a bill which would define massacres of Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915 as genocide. Senior AK Party lawmaker Egemen Bagis says Turkey has trump cards.

- Rises in fuel, cigarette and special consumption tax are on the way.

- There is fear among bankers that Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz, facing pressure from all corners to cut rates, will resign, the paper says.
