MOSCOW, April 10 (Reuters) - The leader of Georgia's breakaway Abkhazia region has flown to Russia for hospital treatment after an attack of angina, his office said on Tuesday. Abkhazia, a mountainous region on the Black Sea coast, broke away from Georgia in fighting in the 1990s. It is now in a tense armed standoff with Tbilisi. Abkhazia's split from Georgia has not been recognised internationally. Sergei Bagapsh, 58, will undergo treatment in a Moscow clinic, "after which he will be able to return to carrying out his duties", said a statement on the presidential Internet site www.abkhazia.gov. Abkhazia's separatists want to be recognised internationally as a state. They say international moves to grant independence to Serbia's Kosovo province will strengthen their claim.
