Guinea soldiers shoot in air in streets of Conakry

CONAKRY, May 11 (Reuters) - A group of heavily-armed Guinean soldiers demanding higher pay and the dismissal of senior officers marched towards the centre of the capital Conakry on Friday, firing shots into the air, witnesses said. The incident followed similar protests over salaries last week by disgruntled soldiers in major garrisons across the world's top bauxite exporter.
