Five of them were killed while the three others were missing, the U.S. military said. The attack took place near the town of Mahmudiya, a rural area south of the capital that is a stronghold of al Qaeda militants. It was not immediately clear if the Iraqi army translator was among the dead or missing Following are the latest figures for military deaths in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003: U.S.-LED COALITION FORCES: United States 3,391 Britain 148 Other nations 125 IRAQIS: Military Between 4,900 and 6,375# Civilians Between 63,373 and 69,418* # = Think-tank estimates for military under Saddam Hussein killed during the 2003 war.
