At least 11 die in Egypt road crash, 7 hurt

CAIRO, Nov 1 (Reuters) - At least 11 people were killed and seven injured when a public minibus collided with a construction vehicle on Saturday on an intercity highway south of Cairo, state news agency MENA said. The accident occurred on a road linking Cairo to Assiut in central Egypt, MENA said. Reckless driving, lax traffic rules and poor road conditions cause many road crashes in Egypt. A series of road and rail accidents in recent years has sparked a public outcry over the government's record on transport safety. (Writing by Cynthia Johnston, editing by Tim Pearce)
