JENIN, West Bank, March 12 (Reuters) - Israeli forces killed a Palestinian militant in the West Bank on Monday during a clash with gunmen, a Palestinian security official said.

The official said three Palestinian gunmen were involved in the exchange with an Israeli patrol near the village of Al-Zababteh, south of the Palestinian city of Jenin, in the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli military said in a statement Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a force operating in the area and it returned fire. The statement said none of the troops were wounded.

It was not clear to which militant group the gunmen belonged.
