COPENHAGEN, May 14 (Reuters) - A Danish soldier was killed and five other soldiers and one interpreter were wounded in an ambush in Al Hartha north of Basra in southern Iraq, the Danish central army command said on Monday.

The army said the soldiers were ambushed by a roadside bomb while on a routine patrol. After the bomb detonated, the attackers used small-arms fire, the command said in a statement, adding that all of the Danes had now been evacuated.

Four of the wounded were lifted by helicopter to a British field hospital, it said.

Denmark has about 470 soldiers in Iraq, serving under British command. Six Danish soldiers have died in action in the country since the start of the U.S.-led occupation in 2003.

Denmark plans to withdraw all of its ground troops from Iraq by August and replace them with a small helicopter unit.

Kenyan flying doctors medics help, upon arrival, one of the five Ugandan African Union peacekeepers injured in Mogadishu, Somalia, at the Willison Airport in Nairobi, May 16, 2007. A remote-controlled bomb killed four Ugandan peacekeepers and a civilian in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Wednesday as Islamist militants followed through on a threat to wage an Iraq-style insurgency. Five peacekeepers and two children were also wounded in the attack on the African Union (AU) convoy, which an AU security source said was the first of its kind against the 1,600-strong Ugandan contingent -- who had previously only been shot at.
