Iraqi police, Mehdi army clash despite ceasefire

KUT, Iraq, March 14 (Reuters) - Members of Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr's Mehdi Army milita clashed with Iraqi police in the southern city of Kut on Friday, a day after a close Sadr aide ordered militiamen to observe a ceasefire, police said.

One policeman was killed in the fighting, and two civilians injured, police said. (Reporting by Jaafar al-Taie)
