Jan 15 (Reuters) - A British soldier was killed on Monday during an attack on an insurgent base in southern Afghanistan, Britain's Ministry of Defence said.

Several other soldiers were wounded in the fighting in Helmand province, NATO said.

Here are the latest figures for foreign military deaths in Afghanistan since the Taliban government was toppled in 2001:

NATO/U.S.-LED COALITION FORCES:

United States 357

Britain 46

Canada 44

Spain 19

Germany 18

Other nations 35

TOTAL: 518

Last year was the bloodiest in Afghanistan since U.S.-led forces overthrew the Taliban in 2001.

More than 4,000 people have been killed, most of them Taliban militants, but including nearly 170 foreign soldiers killed in attacks or accidents during operations.
