TBILISI, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili is set to sack his prime minister in a reshuffle, government and diplomatic sources told Reuters on Friday, days after police battled anti-government protesters.

Two of the sources said they believed Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli would be replaced with Lado Gurgenidze, chairman of the Bank of Georgia <BGEOq.L>, the country's biggest commercial bank.

"We have known for a few days that Gurgenidze will be appointed prime minister," a government official said.

"There is some talk that the president is considering a reshuffle of the government, including the prime minister," said a diplomatic source. A banking sector source also said Gurgenidze was likely to be named as prime minister.
