FACTBOX-Foreign hostages in Iraq

Nov 17 (Reuters) - British and U.S. forces mounted raids in southern Iraq on Friday in the hunt for four Americans and an Austrian kidnapped when the civilian convoy they were guarding was hijacked, Iraqi security sources said. The convoy was attacked on Thursday between the towns of Safwan and Zubayr after crossing the border from Kuwait on its way to the city of Nassiriya. More than 200 foreigners and thousands of Iraqis have been kidnapped since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. At least sixty foreign hostages have been reported executed by their captors -- 41 in 2004, 13 in 2005 and six in 2006.
