STOCKHOLM, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Sweden's centre-right government on Monday said it would raise environmental taxes by 3 billion Swedish crowns ($449 million) in budget proposals this week.

The leaders of the four alliance parties, which won an election a year ago, said they would raise taxes on carbon dioxide emissions in the budget to be announced on Thursday, pushing up the price of petrol and diesel fuel.

"Our ambition is to contribute to the reorganisation and climate-friendly politics that are being discussed around the world," Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt told reporters.

As part of the budget, the government will also propose raising taxes on hydro- and nuclear energy producers by around 1 billion crowns.

Import tariffs on ethanol will be abolished at the latest by the beginning of 2009.
