DUBLIN, May 18 (Reuters) - These are some of the leading stories in Ireland's newspapers on Friday. Reuters has not verified these stories and cannot vouch for their accuracy:

THE IRISH TIMES

- The great debate of the election on RTE television last night ended with Enda Kenny scoring on confidence and the clarity of his message on services and accountability while the Taoiseach scored on points of detail.

- Campaigners on behalf of thousands of undocumented Irish immigrants in the United States have welcomed an agreement between Democratic and Republican senators that could allow an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants to remain in the country legally.

IRISH INDEPENDENT

- Taoiseach Bertie Ahern last night failed to land the crucial knock-out blow in the highly anticipated leaders' debate. Mr Ahern slightly shaded the exchanges in the TV showdown.

- Goodbye and thanks for the memories. Over 130 years of sporting history came to an end yesterday as the wrecking ball finally moved into Dublin's Lansdowne Road stadium.

IRISH EXAMINER

- The probing cut straight to the chase as each leader's greatest weakness was laid bare almost immediately: Enda Kenny, the man who has left no footprints, against Bertie Ahern, the man followed by a trail of financial questions.

- An internal hospital review to determine how a woman was wrongly given the all-clear for breast cancer is expected to blame human error.
