MOSUL, Iraq, May 19 (Reuters) - Eleven Iraqi police recruits were killed in an attack by gunmen in northern Iraq on Monday, a local official said.

The 11 had just volunteered to join the police in the small town of Ba'aj, 130 km (80 miles) from the northern city of Mosul, and were leaving the town in a minibus when they were attacked by gunmen, Ba'aj Mayor Abdul Rahim al-Shameri told Reuters. (Writing by Adrian Croft; Editing by Ross Colvin)
