May 21 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1700 GMT on Wednesday:

BAGHDAD - The U.S. military said its troops shot dead 11 militants in various incidents in eastern Baghdad. Police and several residents said at least some of the dead were civilians killed by U.S. snipers.

NEAR RUTBA - A female suicide bomber with explosives strapped to her belt blew herself up north of Rutba town, 360 km (225 miles) west of Baghdad, killing four people and wounding three others, police said.

DIYALA - Iraqi security forces killed four gunmen who attacked their checkpoint near Jalawlah town, about 100 km (60 miles) north of Baghdad. Three Kurdish troops were wounded, Major Jalil Muhammad Ali said.

DIYALA - Iraqi police found 10 bodies in Buhriz, 60 km (36 miles) southeast Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen killed Col. Abdul-Kareem Mushin, head of a government department which looks after security for buildings, bridges and oil pipelines, near Dora, southern Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Three people were killed and two wounded in a mortar attack in southern Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed one person and wounded four others in northern Baghdad, the U.S. military said. (compiled by Khalid al-Ansary; Editing by Tim Cocks)
