BERLIN, May 22 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to use revenue from the auction of carbon emissions certificates to help fund Berlin's contribution to development aid, a German newspaper reported on Tuesday. Merkel has cabinet backing for the proposal, which would use money from the planned sale of 10 percent of Germany's emissions certificates, the Handelsblatt daily said in a preview of its Wednesday edition, citing unidentified government sources. Germany is striving to meet a pledge to raise the amount it contributes to development aid to 0.7 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2015.
