CONAKRY, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Guinea's parliament on Friday refused President Lansana Conte's request to extend martial law, imposed across the country 11 days ago to quell violent protests against his rule.

"The assembly deputies present unanimously refuse to renew martial law," National Assembly President Aboubacar Sompare told parliament after a vote on Conte's request. Martial law, imposed almost two weeks ago, is due to expire later on Friday.
