GAZA, Aug 23 (Reuters) - A Hamas militant was killed in an explosion in the Gaza Strip on Thursday in what the Islamist group said was an Israeli attack, but the Israeli army denied any involvement.

Hamas officials said an Israeli attack on a shed in a field east of Gaza City killed one militant and critically wounded another.

An Israeli army spokesman said the military had not carried out an attack.
