(Adds background, details) BAGHDAD, Nov 23 (Reuters) - One U.S. soldier was killed and two were wounded when their convoy was hit by an explosive device in the town of Baquba just north of Baghdad on Sunday, a U.S. military spokesman said. "One 4th Infantry Division soldier was killed and two were wounded when their vehicle hit an IED (improvised explosive device)" said Lieutenant Colonel Bill MacDonald, a spokesman for the 4th Infantry Division based around Tikrit. The attack brings to 185 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since Washington declared an end to major combat in the country on May 1. Earlier on Sunday, attackers slit the throats of two U.S. soldiers as their vehicle was stopped in traffic in the centre of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, witnesses said.
