SANAA, March 24 (Reuters) - At least 12 people were killed and dozens of homes were destroyed in heavy rain storms in Yemen, a government official said on Saturday.

Two people were injured in a thunder storm and many farms were destroyed due to the stormy weather, which hit Yemen -- one of the poorest countries in the Arab world -- over the past two days, the official said.

A member of Yemen's counter-terrorism force takes part in field training near the capital Sanaa May 12, 2007. Yemen said on Saturday it was recalling its ambassadors to Iran and Libya over what it sees as their support for Shi'ite Muslim rebels involved in bloody clashes with government forces.
