TASHKENT, Dec 24 (Reuters) - Islam Karimov, leader of ex-Soviet Uzbekistan, won 88.1 percent of the vote in a weekend presidential election in the Central Asian state, according to preliminary results announced on Monday.

"Preliminary results showed that the election was conducted in accordance with the constitution," Mirzoulugbek Abdusalomov, head of the Central Election Commission, told reporters.
