TUNCELI, Turkey, Sept 25 (Reuters) - A Turkish paramilitary policeman was killed on Tuesday and four others were injured when a car bomb exploded at a police outpost in eastern Turkey, army sources said.

A vehicle apparently carrying bread was driven up to the police post in a village in Tunceli province and detonated by remote control, they said. No information was available about the driver.

In separate fighting between security forces and Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) guerrillas, an officer and four militants were killed in the southeastern province of Sirnak, where a large scale operation continued, the sources said.

Turkish troops have stepped up operations against the separatist PKK ahead of the winter, when violence tends to subside in the mountainous region, while Ankara is urging the United States to deal with rebels based in northern Iraq. The group, considered a terrorist organisation by the United States, the European Union and Turkey, launched its violent campaign in 1984 and Ankara blames it for more than 30,000 deaths since then.
