May 27 (Reuters) - Latest political and security developments in the Palestinian territories and Israel on Sunday: GAZA - Israel pressed on with air strikes in Gaza, launching two attacks after dark, neither causing casualties. Hamas said an Israeli warplane fired a missile at a military command headquarters in southern Gaza. An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed the attack. The second air strike was reported in northern Gaza, striking in an open field which suggests Israel was targeting a rocket crew, witnesses said. SDEROT - Hamas claimed responsiblity for firing a rocket that killed an Israeli man, 35, and later a second rocket that slammed into a house in Sderot, damaging it and injuring an Israeli, an Israeli emergency service said. Since May 15, more than 220 rockets have been launched from Gaza, killing two Israelis and wounding more than a dozen. Israeli air strikes in Gaza since that time have killed more than 40 Palestinians, most of them militants. JERUSALEM - Israeli Prime Minister responded to the deadly rocket assault on Sderot by pledging unlimited military action against Hamas, and telling a weekly cabinet meeting that Israel should "be prepared for a long confrontation". GAZA - Hamas responded to Olmert's threats by formally rejecting a bid by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to renew a truce that would halt rocket fire against the Jewish state in exchange for Israel stopping its air strikes in Gaza. Hamas spokesman Ayman Taha insisted on an overall truce that would include the West Bank, where Israel conducts frequent raids to arrest suspected militants.
