ROME, July 26 (Reuters) - Two Japanese tourists jumped from their second floor room to escape a fire that devastated a hotel in Rome on Thursday, sustaining serious injuries, police said. Five people were taken to hospital, including the two Japanese and an Italian who also leaped from a window to escape the fire. Others were treated for burns and smoke inhalation. The fire in the three-star San Giusto hotel, north of Rome's Termini railway station, started around 7 a.m. (0500 GMT). Local media said the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in one of the rooms. Some 120 people were staying at the hotel.
