TRIPOLI, July 26 (Reuters) - Libya said on Thursday that Bulgaria's decision to pardon six medics jailed for infecting hundreds of Libyan children with HIV was a clear violation of an agreement between the two countries.

Libya reached a deal with the European Union this week that allowed the five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian-born doctor to leave Libya, where they had spent eight years in prison.

On arriving in Bulgaria, they were immediately pardoned by the country's president.

"The pardon granted to the medics by the Bulgarian authorities is a clear violation of the agreement reached on the July 23," an official in Tripoli said.

A memorandum sent by Libya to Bulgaria on Wednesday "added that Libya protested against non-compliance with the extradition treaty signed in 1984," said the official, who asked not to be named.
