MOSCOW, Jan 28 (Reuters) - An avalanche in central Russia on Monday killed at least four children and seriously injured nine others, RIA news agency quoted a spokesman for Russia's emergency ministry as saying.

The avalanche struck as the children, aged 9 to 13, were skiing in a ravine outside the town of Bugulma, in the central Russian region of Tatarstan.

"Four children were killed and nine are in intensive care," the spokesman said, RIA reported. (Reporting by Guy Faulconbridge, editing by Matthew Jones)
