VALLETTA, June 29 (Reuters) - Authorities in Malta have recovered the bodies of five people killed when a fireworks factory blew up earlier this week, police said on Friday.

They said the five had been missing since the blast levelled the factory in Birkirkara, four miles (6 km) north of the island's capital Valletta, on Wednesday, burying them under tons of debris.

Police said two bodies were found on Thursday and three on Friday.

The factory produced firework used at religious festivals during the summer. The blast is believed to have been an accident.

The body of a would-be immigrant is lowered off an Armed Forces of Malta patrol boat onto the quay at the Maritime Squadron base at Haywharf in Valletta's Marsamxett Harbour June 30, 2007. Twenty would-be immigrants were rescued by an Icelandic trawler, the "Eyborg", when their boat capsized some 70 nautical miles north of Libya while on their way to reach European soil from Africa. Up to ten other immigrants are believed to have drowned when the boat capsized, an army spokesman said.
