Israeli president undergoes cardiac tests - report

JERUSALEM, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Israeli President Moshe Katsav underwent a series of tests in a hospital cardiac unit on Tuesday and was later released, Israel's Army Radio reported, quoting a Health Ministry official. Katsav, 60, was taken to hospital after feeling ill, the radio said, a day after he rejected calls to step down after police said earlier this month they had evidence he committed rape against female employees. Katsav's spokesman, Hagit Cohen, said: "The president's condition is fine" and refused to comment on reports he had undergone hospital tests. The radio said Katsav was later pronounced fine and that he was discharged from Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem after undergoing the tests.
