BRUSSELS, Dec 4 (Reuters) - The European Union is very close to a deal to boost renewable energy after resolving a battle over the controversial issue of biofuels, the European Parliament's lead negotiator said on Thursday. The stand-off over biofuels was ended with an agreement that part of the EU's 10 percent goal for renewable fuels in transport would be met through electric cars and trains, Luxembourg Green group member Claude Turmes told Reuters. The European Commission will come forward with proposals in 2010 to limit any unwanted impacts from biofuels, he added. (Reporting by Pete Harrison)
