Israel frees five Palestinians in Hezbollah deal

HASHARON PRISON, Israel, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Israel released on Wednesday five Palestinian prisoners as part of a swap deal with the Lebanese Hezbollah guerrilla group that brought the bodies of two Israeli soldiers home. The Israeli cabinet approved their release earlier this week, marking the final stage of the swap deal with Hezbollah. None of the released Palestinians was involved in deadly attacks against Israelis, Israeli officials said. Israel freed five Lebanese prisoners and returned the bodies of nearly 200 Arab fighters last month as part of the deal with Hezbollah. The two Israeli soldiers were killed in a Hezbollah cross-border raid that triggered a 34-day war in 2006. (Reporting by Rami Amichai, Editing by Jon Boyle)
