Sept 19 (Reuters) - Anti-Syrian Christian lawmaker Antoine Ghanem was killed in a car bomb explosion in the eastern part of Beirut on Wednesday, security sources said.

The lawmaker of the Christian Phalange party, was among at least seven people killed and appeared to be the main target of the bombing, the sources said.

Beirut has been hit by a series of bomb attacks in the past 2-1/2 years, many of them aimed at anti-Syrian politicians.
