POZNAN, Poland, Dec 11 (Reuters) - The United Nations may call a summit of world leaders in September 2009 to try to spur negotiations on a new U.N. climate treaty, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Thursday. "I am considering convening a summit level meeting focused on climate change, at the time of the General Assembly in September," Ban told a news conference on the sidelines of Dec. 1-12 climate talks in Poznan, Poland. He said he would discuss the idea with member states and that the involvement of world leaders could be helpful to unblock negotiations on complex treaties, such as the climate. Ban also held a meeting of leaders about climate change on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in September 2007. The Poznan talks are reviewing progress towards a new climate pact meant to be agreed at the end of 2009 in Copenhagen. (Reporting by Gabriela Baczynska and Alister Doyle; Editing by Louise Ireland)
