DUBAI, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Pirates have taken control of a large Saudi-owned oil tanker in the Arabian Sea, the U.S. Navy said on Monday.

The ship was the largest vessel to come under attack by pirates in the area, a U.S. Navy spokesman told Reuters.

The vessel has 25 crew with members from Croatia, Britain, the Philippines, Poland and Saudi Arabia, the U.S. Navy said in a statement.

The tanker was attacked 450 nautical miles southeast of Mombasa, Kenya, the U.S. Navy said.
