SARAJEVO, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Police arrested two Bosnian Serbs suspected of committing war crimes in a detention camp near Sarajevo during the city's 1992-1995 siege, the prosecutor's office said in a statement on Tuesday.

Radivoje Lalovic, 52, and Soniboj Skiljevic, 50, were wardens of the notorious Kula prison at the outskirts of Sarajevo, where Bosnian Serb paramilitaries held mainly Muslim and Croat civilians.

The victims were often snatched from their homes in those areas of the city occupied during the 43-month siege.

The two men have been accused of "taking part in the persecution of non-Serb civilian population on a discriminatory basis" while at Kula prison from May 1992 to December 1995, the prosecutor's office said.

"They are suspected of being responsible for illegal detentions, torture, inhuman treatment, infliction of injuries to physical integration, killings and forced labour," the statement added.

The men were arrested at the request of prosecutors at the Bosnian war crimes court and will be kept in detention, the statement said.

About 14,000 people, including some 1,400 children, were killed during the siege of Sarajevo, the longest siege since World War Two. (Reporting by Daria Sito-Sucic, editing by Adam Tanner and Matthew Jones)
