BAGHDAD, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Iraq's government said it had been assured of the backing of the U.S. administration on Friday at a meeting between Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and U.S. ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad.

"The United States fully supports the Iraqi government," Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said after a week in which Maliki, Khalilzad and U.S. President George W. Bush have given differing accounts of the extent of their cooperation.
