Tropical Storm Barry threatens Florida

MIAMI, June 1 (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Barry formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Friday, the first day of the Atlantic hurricane season, and storm warnings were issued for parts of Florida's west coast. At 5 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT) the storm was centered about 320 miles (520 km) west of Key West, Florida, and moving north, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said. It had top sustained winds of 45 mph (75 kph) and was not expected to strengthen significantly before hitting the Florida Coast, the forecasters said.
