Moderate earthquake hits near Osh, Kyrgyzstan

WASHINGTON, Jan 1 (Reuters) - A moderate 5.7.-magnitude earthquake struck near Osh, Kyrgyzstan, on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The quake had a depth of 26.5 miles (42.7 km) and hit 16 miles (26 km) southeast of Osh, the second-largest city in the Central Asian republic, near the border with Uzbekistan.
