WASHINGTON, Oct 4 (Reuters) - A magnitude 5.6 quake struck Indonesia's Lombok island on Thursday, 118 miles (190 km) east of Bali, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

It said the quake, whose epicenter was 94 miles (152 km) northeast of Mataram, was very shallow at 8.5 miles (13.5 km) deep.

Earlier on Wednesday, a 6.0 quake, originally reported as magnitude 6.3, struck the country's northern Aceh province but did not cause any casualties or damage.
