SAN SALVADOR, Nov 8 (Reuters) - At least 54 people are dead in El Salvador following flooding and mudslides triggered by Hurricane Ida, a spokesman for the interior ministry said on Sunday in a statement read on local radio.

Interior Minister Humberto Centeno said earlier that at least 42 people had died as Ida drenched the Central American country with relentless rain this week. (Reporting by Rene Tobar; Writing by Robert Campbell, editing by Jackei Frank)
